A heads up for my non-existent readers:

Howdy! I’m just writing to keep you guys updated! First off, I’m on spring break until Easter, so hopefully I’ll post some more. While I want to tell you I will, I must forewarn you that I’ve said things like that, and then go and only post 2 things a term. So please don’t take this as a promise. I’m not even going to update you guys on my mental health because it is a fucking mess. I may or may not be sick. Again. Seriously, I can’t come home without getting sick because someone is always sick here! At least I have my cats.

Secondly, I thought I would give a heads up on what the next posts may look like. I’ve been really into War and Peace (please read the last post on the new series), and have since started reading the book as well as watching any adaption I can. Obviously, this is time consuming since the book is really long and the adaptions are long as well (the movie version alone is 3 hours. I think at least one of the mini-series is around 8+ hours?). Anyway, I really love comparing and contrasting things, so as I get further in the book and as I watch different adaptions, I will probably post randomly to update you guys, so basically it’s a series of War and Peace posts.

I’ve also recently re-watched The Outsiders and started rereading that. I don’t think I’ve ever explained how much I love that book, and the movie as well. It’s not even that great of a movie, but I’ll probably yell at you if you say that (even if I know deep down you’re right). The feels! I just have a lot of love for the characters, especially Dally because he’s a really complex character and I just love doing analysis of characters (for example, my Four Brothers post basically did that). So ya know, there’s that.

Outside of that (hahaha, the outsiders, outside of that…get it?) I have been trying to make a moodboard every few days, so I may post some of them on here. Not sure. They haven’t been well received on Tumblr (probably because they’re shit), except for my Cinderella one. So anyway, I’ll post them here for anyone who has come here outside of my tumblr.

I might do a series of posts on shitty movies I love (looking at you Blue Lagoon: The Awakening).

So, until then, stay dandy, peace out! Пока! Whatever!

Anyway, here’s Wonderwall. No, actually here’s a picture of Humphrey Bogart with a penguin. WHO DOESN’T WANT THAT?

P.S. !!!!!! Exploring With Josh got to go to Chernobyl, and I realized I’ve never expressed my morbid obsession with it. A lot of people are like “Oh yeah, its an Urban Explorers dream!” But my obsession goes past that. I literally got into college because of an essay I wrote, and have written about 4 other essays on it. In my Russian I class I did a presentation on it in Russian, so I’m kinda…obsessed. Like, if you ever have questions about it, I’m your girl. I’ll have to do a post about it, especially since the 30th anniversary is next month (holy shit guys!)

I just don’t understand the draw of Wax Museums…A review of House of Wax (2005)

When I grow up, which is in a year when I graduate college, I plan on working in a museum. I love museums so much that I could live in one if possible. I love each and every type of museum, Historical Houses, Natural History, Botanical Gardens, Zoo’s, and Art Museums. But there is just one type that I have always seemed to lack interest in, and that is Wax Museums. I’m not sure if they’re even considered real museums, I mean probably, because museums are basically collections of stuff (whether it be dead, art, living animals, plants, etc), it just doesn’t seem like it should be one to me.

Do you fucking see how creepy this is?

This of course brings me the topic of this post, a little gem called House of Wax. I still have yet to see the original, Vincent Price version, and I’m sure it’s much better than the 2005 version by a long stretch, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy this version. And anyway, we all know I’m a sucker for a shitty horror movie. Okay, so why do I enjoy this movie so much? Is it the gore? Probably, the acting? Ha! No. But Chad Michael Murray is definitely a reason. I also do like the main character, Carly. Mostly the whole twin-bond thing, or lack thereof. I think the biggest thing about House of Wax, though, is the fact that it’s about a wax museum, and if that isn’t creepy, than I don’t know what is!

Wow, where can I get this DVD so I can always have shirtless chad?

Friendly reminder that this is not a spoiler free blog, so please do not proceed any further if you don’t want any spoilers.

The Merciless Mercers: A look at my new fave movie Four Brothers

Here’s a review/post I started about a month ago and never finished. It still rings true.

Four Brothers is a movie I remember catching on tv a while ago. It’s one of those movies where you see Mark Whalberg and you think “Hey, Marky Mark!” And so you watch it (I had this similar reaction with Shooter). I must have been young at the time, or something, because for whatever reason, I wasn’t a fan of it. I think it has to do with what happens near the end, but let’s not dwell on that because you might not have seen it and I’m still upset…Whatever the reason it is, I finally got around to actually watching it.

The plot is basically like this: Evelyn Mercer is a lovely badass lady who adopts 4 boys (Bobby, Jeremiah, Angel and Jack) that are bad kids and she ends up making them somewhat (whisper that word because it’s debatable) respectable gentleman. The movie starts years after this, when Evelyn is murdered in a robbery (not a spoiler! It’s in the trailer!). Being suspicious of the world and everyone in it, Bobby and his brothers decide they want to find who killed their mom. So basically, it’s one giant mystery, and adorable sibling bickering.

You know the drill, if you haven’t seen it and don’t want spoilers, don’t continue reading. Anyway, I highly recommend it because it’s a good movie.

Housebound: A movie that could persuade you not to be a criminal

The other day I was perusing through the limited variety my Blu-ray shows of what’s on Netflix. I wasn’t sure what I was in the mood to watch, so I absent-mindedly clicked on comedy. The first thing to show up was a movie called Housebound. I remembered seeing this movie in the horror category. This piqued my interest because a funny horror movie sounded right up my alley. I gave it a shot, and was pleasantly surprised.

Girl Most Likely pt 2: Darren Criss

I left off the last post explaining that the next would be about Darren Criss. Well, here that post is. Instead of doing my homework while I wait for my friends so we can go to the bar. This is so totally weird for me because I have yet to actually go to a bar being 21 and it’s also Sunday night and I have class at 9:50 tomorrow, but I’m only getting one drink. It’s actually my friends 21st, so we obviously have to drink? I don’t know. I didn’t go to a bar on my bday, because it was a Tuesday, and I had actually been at a wedding the Saturday before drinking, so really it was  just another Tuesday to me…

Anyway, this post is supposed to be about Darren Criss, and not my semi-decent social life that really isn’t much of a social life?

So, Darren Criss plays the adorable Lee in Girl Most Likely. Once again, I must caution you. If you have not seen the movie, please don’t proceed any further unless you have seen it, or want to be spoiled…

Girl Most Likely pt 1: Summary and the rad Fashion

As you all know (all is a funny word because I think it’s just me reading this), I have been updating my Get To Know Me Meme on tumblr. In order to do this, I need to review a lot of my favorite things because, to be honest, I neglect them. Some things, like Band Of Brothers, I don’t need to review because I know them too well, other things, like Girl Most Likely, I do need to review. This is a post about Girl Most Likely, since I watched it with Soli yesterday night.

Before I actually form any thoughts on it, you should probably know what it’s about.

Girl Most Likely poster, which I adore and wish I owned for my lovely dorm wall.

So… Girl Most Likely is a movie from 2013, starring Kristen Wiig as Imogene, a writer living in New York, whose life basically falls apart. After an unfortunate plan to fake a suicide, Imogene ends up in her mother’s care.

An unhappy Imogene wakes up in a casino after being sedated to find that her mother left her in her car while she gambled. Fun times.

Her mother (played by Annette Bening), suffers from impulse problems, such as gambling or “picking up hitchhikers” (a story I would love to hear more about). So, naturally, Imogene had gotten the hell out of dodge as soon as possible. Now, she’s stuck with her mother, yet again, and has to spend the week at her childhood home, where she finds things have changed. Some for the worst.

For one thing, her brother is a recluse. They live in Ocean City, and Ralph hasn’t traveled past the Board Walk. I honestly feel that Ralph has some definite issues, possibly autism, but I’m not going to diagnose him because I’m not a professional, even if I was a psych major for 2 years. He works at a kiosk on the board walk, selling hermit crabs, which is pretty great because he’s basically a hermit.

Ralph being absolutely adorable at work.

She also comes to find that her mother is dating a man they refer to as “The Boosh”. The Boosh is played by Matt Dillon (who is still as fine as ever), who seemingly is a compulsive liar, that both Imogene’s mother and brother are enamored with.

Here’s The Boosh looking really cool.

And my favorite part, the very attractive and young Lee, played by the beautiful Darren Criss. Lee is renting out Imogene’s old room and it’s pretty hilarious because her posters from the 90’s are still up on her walls. It basically looks like she never left, minus the man in her bed.

Can you say YAAASS? Darren Criss at his finest, tbh.

Imogene’s life is not only a mess, but it’s an even bigger mess when she finds out a secret her mother has been keeping from her since she was 9 years old. A secret so big, her life is basically never the same again. I don’t really want to write more on the summary front, because otherwise I might actually give away too much. However, if you do not want spoilers, I really caution you to watch the movie and then read after this, because I cannot guarantee a spoiler free post after this point.
